Our family's tradition of winegrowing goes back for centuries. Our wineyards can be found in the hills between Fertőrákos and Balf where the unique climate of Lake Fertő, the excellent soil and plenty of sunshine give everything that our Cabernet sauvignon, Pinot noir, Blue Frankish and Zweigelt wines need.
We cultivate 3 ha of land and are proud of our outland and inland succes.
The way we prepare our wine alloys the eternel rules from our ancestors and the basic technologies of our times.
What can you expect if you taste Luka wine? An intresting duality of masculine character and female lightness.
We believe that our wines are not only pleasant drinks but also bottled books that tell stories... about our city, people and our fate.
Kurt Taschner owns today one of the leading wineries of this region
In the beginning he was bottling the wine made by his father, alongside the work he studied all the knowledge of winemaking and today he is managing a winery with 20 hectares of land. Participating in the local wine marketing and wine tourism belongs also to his priorities.
His winery is located on a hill overlooking the town. This area is named as the „Cross of Rest” where centuries ago the travellers and merchants made a short break before entering the city. The Taschner winery includes not only the production site, but also a wine shop and a tasting area where all his wines, sparkling wines and brandies can be tasted.
His company, the Taschner Wine and Sparkling Wine Ltd. Is cultivating today an area of 30 hectares. The cultivated varieties are: bluefranc, zweigelt, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, irsai oliver, zenit and malvasia.
We harvest our grapes grown on the best dunes of Balf-Fertőrákos with environmentally friendly "green" technology in Sopron, and grow them in our cellar built in 1863. Our style combines tradition and modern approach. The crunchy fruits of our white and rosé wines harmonize with the fullness of the ripe grapes.
Linzer-Orosz is a young winery and has been operating under this name since 2018. It was founded by two families: Sámuel Linzer and Csaba Orosz and his brother Peter, the founders and owners of the winery, who have been running a winery since 2011.
Sámuel Linzer comes from the famous poncichter family of Sopron, his ancestors dating back to the 15th century. They have been engaged in winemaking since the 20th century.
On the maternal branch of the Orosz brothers, the famous poncichter Stubenvoll's family, the grandfather's famed wine bar under the Stubi brand. The two brothers inherited the problem of viticulture and winemaking at an early age, so the boys, who were originally planning a career in economics in Budapest, turned to winery.
We are a traditional poncichter family winery in Sopron, farming a total of 4 hectares. The vineyards can be found between Balf and Fertőrákos. Our main grape type is Kékfrankos, which covers half of our terrain. By tasting our blue frankisch wines like the Kékfrankos Classic, Kékfrankos Nuance and Kékfrankos Barrique, you gain an insight into the versatility of Kékfrankos as a grape and wine.
If you visit us, you should never miss tasting these three wines.
Other grape types we nurtures: Ols Irsai, Green Veltelini, Zweigelt, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon
The Hermann Winery is a unique, family-run business that manages only 6 hectares of Bio. We make more than 20 quality bottled wines from hand-harvested grapes. The value of our wines is pure variety, ripe fruitiness and high alcohol.
We use French barrique barrels for the wines and wait a long time to nurture our hand-crafted wine and achieve a characteristic taste with fine tannins.
The 1.5-hectare young winery's cellar is located in Balfi Street, close to the center of Sopron, and the vineyards are located near the Fertő bank. We consider the gentle processing of grapes important, leaving the wine in the cellar with as little interference as possible. All our wines receive a barrique aging. In our repertoire, in addition to Kékfrankos, which is almost mandatory in Sopron, the main focus is on white wines with barrique fermentation and aging.
The Steigler Winery and its Wine Estate was founded by Mr.Bálint Lőrinczy, a descendant of the Török family with its centuries old roots in Sopron. The 21 hectare estate is located in the finest areas of the Sopron wine region; Steiger, Frettner and Spern-Steiner. The vineyards have undergone major developments, as well as a transition to organic cultivation for the last 3 years under the close supervision of Biokontroll.
The operational management of the winery and the estate is executed by Mr.Tamás Varga, oenologist, who has gained substantial expertise in the field of organic vinoculture and wine making in Austria, California and New Zealand.
The basis for the production is provided by the vinyard's excellent kékfrankos, Grüner Velteliner and the newly planted furmint, along with with the estate’s finest zweigelt, pinot noir, merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon plantations. The aim and vision of the Steigler Winery is to make use of the vineyard’s exceptional benefits in combination with the winery’s advanced technologies to create exquisite and high-quality bio-wines.
The philosophy of the Bónis-Reitter Winery is to base vibrant, youthful, modern wine making on family traditions. We welcome our guests in the Pauline Cellar with hundreds of years of history. During wine tastings, our guests can get an insight into the history of the centuries old cellar.
A small family hobby winery in the Sopron wine region with two hectares. In Kőszeg, where wineries have always been present, but no really big wineries have developed, the interconnection between people always played a very important role. The winery aims to keep the tradition alive.
They mainly make red wines, which are aged in oak barrels before bottling. They await guests in a romantic setting next to their vineyards.
A family owned winery growing grapes on 48 hectares and so are the second largest winemakers in the Sopron Wine Region. Since average temperature is withn 1 Celsius higher than at other parts of the region, the wines here are softer. Using modern technology the winery produces traditional wines. Our bottled wines are matured in wooden barrels, while the rest are aged in mild steel tanks.
The majority of our wineyards are also located on the shores of Lake Fertő, in the best cultivation area of the wine-growing region. Service areas for bikers like this – with an open wine cellar that sells refreshments, coffee and sandwiches besides wine - are common in Austria but unique on the Hungarian side of the border. Above the cellar there is a wine tasting room for 40–50 people, here and on the terrace our guests are able to taste our wine supplies and eat wine-biscuits while enjoying the marvellous view of Lake Fertő. We welcome all wine-lovers to our professional presentations about oenology and wine-growing!
The history of our family winery looks 30 years back in time. In 1982, we planted our first Kékfrankos (’Blue Frank’) variety vineyard at the Kohlenberg estate in Sopron (Hungary). Ever since then, we keep obtaining the best of our Kékfrankos wine from those vines. Along with the years, the initially small territories have bloomed step by step to several hectares, featuring a growing number of varieties. Currently we produce wines from grape varieties as Kékfrankos, Zweigelt, Zenit, Zöldveltelíni (’Green Veltelini’), Irsai Olivér, Tramini and Cabernet Sauvignon among others.
